About

Darth Vader, born as Anakin Skywalker, is a central character in the Star Wars franchise. He is the secondary antagonist of the original trilogy, serving as the main antagonist of the first two installments, A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back; the secondary antagonist of the third film, Return of the Jedi; the protagonist of all the movies in the prequel trilogy and the 2008 stand-alone movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars; and a supporting antagonist in the 2016 stand-alone movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Anakin Skywalker was born and raised on Tatooine. One day, a Jedi named Qui-Gon Jinn found Anakin and took him to be trained as a Jedi, believing that he was the Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force. Qui-Gon's apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi took it upon himself to train Anakin in the ways of the Jedi after Qui-Gon was killed by a Sith Lord named Darth Maul. Anakin grew up and became a powerful Jedi, but Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, who was secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, manipulated Anakin and turned him into Darth Vader. Luckily, Anakin's wife Padme Amidala gave birth to two children, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, who would grow up to defeat the Empire. They were separated and hidden from the Empire so that Vader and Sidious wouldn't sense them. After Luke and Leia grew up and joined the Rebellion, Vader told Luke that he was his father and Luke made it his mission to bring his father back to the light side. At first, even Vader didn't think that there was any good left in him, but when Sidious attacked Luke, Vader became Anakin again, redeemed himself, killed Sidious and saved Luke and the entire galaxy. Redeemed by his love for his son, Anakin died and then became one with the Force.

Trivia

Players were able to purchase Darth Vader as part of the "Darth Vader Bundle" during A New Hope Event 2021. Players needed to have progressed to the "Welcome a Dark Lord" quest to receive the promotion.
